What 3 Challenges Face the Aviation Industry Under the Trump Administration?

Under the Trump Administration, the aviation industry will face three critical issues that will impact its future.

  1. Privatizing Air Traffic Control. Over the past year or so, there has been a groundswell of support to separate air traffic control from the Federal Aviation Administration into a private organization. The issue is likely to be debated in the coming year and included as part of the FAA reauthorization package.
  2. Integrating Drones Into U.S. Airspace. The increasing use of drone presents both safety concerns, as well as issues related to air traffic management.
  3. International Trade. For many years, the United States has had a policy of negotiating open sky fair competition agreements with other countries. Recently, however, policy makers have debated whether these agreements sufficiently represent the interests of U.S. carriers and workers.
