President Trump and Secretary Chao agree that one of the most pressing issues across the transportation sector today is the need for significant infrastructure investment from urban to suburban to rural areas across the country.
President Trump’s campaign promise to invest roughly $1 trillion in infrastructure over the next two years is a great start however, it only begins to dig the U.S. out of the hole that’s been dug in recent decades.
Secretary Chao has suggested pulling together a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss funding options and present that to Congress for its consideration.
There is a broad consensus that we need to invest a tremendous amount of money to meet the needs of the system. The challenge is whether we can come up with options that solve on a long-term, reliable basis, the growing needs for the future.
