Trump and IP: is Change Afoot?

President-elect Trump has not made a strong public stand on intellectual property rights and patent policy, but his staunch pro-business stance could indicate that he favors strong U.S. intellectual property rights.

A recent article by Morrison & Foerster’s Colette Reiner Mayer and Diek Van Nort identified two possible areas of reform:

  1. Patent Office Funding
  2. Venue Shopping

Both areas have a stagnant legislative history. If legislative reforms are passed, history could paint the president-elect in a favorable light.
